Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir on Sunday (May 17) announced his resignation as Kedah Menteri Besar with immediate effect, saying that he had lost the majority support in the state legislative assembly.

Mukhriz lost his grip after two PKR assemblymen jumped ship on Tuesday (May 12) and pledged their support to the Perikatan Nasional coalition.
