Study That Puts COVID-19 Death Rate Unusually Low Funded By Discount Airline

A widely-cited study concluded that the coronavirus has a much lower death rate than previously believed.
According to Business Insider, the study put the rate of fatalities around .12% to .2%, similar to the flu.
However, the study was funded in part by David Neeleman, the founder of JetBlue Airways.
Neeleman has opposed national lockdowns out of concern for his business. The funding was not previously disclosed.
The study authors have downplayed concerns about a potential conflict of interest and other issues, such as the accuracy of its antibody tests.
