Divers find large whale shark swimming peacefully surrounded by smaller fish

This is the amazing moment a group of divers found a whale shark swimming with dozens of smaller fish following it.

The divers went into the sea to explore the area's ecology 13 nautical miles away from a shore in Rayong, eastern Thailand on Tuesday morning (May 12).

They dived 20ft underwater where they noticed the 16ft long whale shark encircled by a group of sharksuckers, small fish that attach themselves to larger hosts to pick up food scraps.

Footage from the diver shows the huge sea creature swimming beautifully looking for its food for half an hour before it went on its way into deeper area.

The diver said the area is quite fertile because it is full of rock formations which prevent the fishing boats from coming around.

He said: "The ecology there was undisturbed by human activity as it was so far from the shore.

"Absence of humans has allowed the area to be fertile. It is rich with rare sea creatures and scenarios like the shark whale searching for prey.''
