Studies: Summer Heat Won’t Kill Coronavirus
  • 4 years ago
According to Gizmodo new studies suggest that summer heat and humidity won't stop the spread of coronavirus.
With weather warming up in the Western hemisphere, experts say that people should continue to social distance through the heat.
Peter Jüni, a clinical epidemiologist at the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto said “The message is simple: Summer won’t help us to resolve this problem.”
A Canadian Medical Association Journal study found that differences in temperature and humidity had little bearing on the coronavirus’ progression, rejecting preliminary research that said otherwise.
Jüni said that the new study is much more rigorous.
MIT’s Sloan School of Management and China conducted similar studies that align with The Canadian Medical Journal's findings— heat won't stop the spread of COVID-19.
