Wild boar gives Malaysian firemen the run-around before amazingly managing to escape

A rampaging wild boar gave Malaysian firefighters the run-around as they tried to catch it in a family's front yard.
The creature sparked panic when it burst into the garden in Muar town in Johor state, on May 1.
Muar Fire and Rescue Department received a call from the worried owner, who had shut themselves inside to avoid being injured.
Eight firefighters in orange camouflage uniform spent more than 30 minutes running around the yard, unsuccessfully trying to catch the crafty animal.
Footage shows how the boar repeatedly evaded their grasp, dodging their lassos, leaping over walls and hiding in bushes.
One of the firefighters, Muhammad Iqbal Hasnol, captured the chase using his body cam. He said that seven of them were inside the yard struggling to catch the boar, while another one was waiting outside in case it broke out of the property.
Muhammad added: "We intended to catch the animal using tools such as ropes and catch poles to avoid injuring it. But it wasn't possible.''
In the end, the boar was able to be escape through a hole in the fence into a neighbouring garden. It then darted back into the nearby woods.
Muhammad said that despite failing to catch the boar, the call-out was still a success as they removed it from the property.
He added: ''We found out that there was a hole in a fence, which the animal used to enter the residence. The operation was a success. We only wasted our efforts playing catch with the boar."
