Dhauli is located on the banks of the river Daya, 8 km south of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, India. It is a hill with vast open space adjoining it, Striking white peace pagoda & Buddhist shrine was constructed atop Dhauli Hill in. the 1970s. The dazzling white Peace Pagoda also known as . Vishwa Shanti Stupa was built in collaboration with Japan Buddha Sangha and Kalinga Nippon Buddha Sangha. It was inaugurated on 8th November 1972. The structure of the Stupa is in the shape of a dome. One can spot the footprints of Buddha & also spot the image of Ashoka keeping his sword before Lord Buddha. The construction of Shanti Stupa was assisted by Fuji Guruji and therefore the pagoda became a place of devotion and worship for the Buddhist community from all over the world . Dhauli hill situated on the bank of river Daya is presumed to be the area where the Kalinga War was fought almost 2300 years back by the emperor Ashoka the great.The devastation & blood shed in course of the war turned the river red with blood.
