The income tax (I-T) department has asked taxpayers to be cautious with alerts they receive for income tax refunds as they can be phishing messages to trick assessees. A typical fake message, looks similar to an official message from the department and reads like this.

आयकर रिटर्न भरने की तारीख जैसे-जैसे नजदीक आ रही है, साइबर फ्रॉड करने वाले ठगों ने अपना जाल फैलाना शुरू कर दिया है..सरकार साइबर अटैक को लेकर लगातार लोगों को सावधान करती आ रही है. इस बीच, आयकर विभाग ने आयकरदाताओं को रिफंड का वादा करने वाले फिशिंग' ई-मेल और संदेश के प्रति आगाह किया है. साथ ही करदाताओं की इस तरह के किसी भी ई-मेल पर क्लिक नहीं करने को कहा है.
