India made a great start after electing to bowl first but the Sri Lankan middle order took control and raked up a score of 251 for the loss of 8 wickets. What surprised Indian fans because their team had shown some quality batting performances in the tournament so far. The Eden crowd could not be controlled and disturbed the ongoing proceedings of the game. Finally the match was awarded to Sri Lanka by match referee Clive Lloyd.
