A conspiracy theory is circulating social media that 5G technology is behind the spread of the coronavirus. Twitter is targeting this theory as part of their cradown on misinformation on their platform. The company wants to block information that may influence people to “engage in harmful activity.” According to Gizmodo, the 5G theory in particular has caused people to damage 5G infrastructure. Twitter said misinformation like that can “lead to widespread panic, social unrest, or large-scale disorder.”
