Chipotle Prides Itself In 'Food Safety Culture' As Their Hit By A $25 Million Fine On Food Poisoning

The Department of Justice announced Chipotle has to pay a $25 million fine to resolve criminal charges. The charges were s related to food poisoning outbreaks that got more than 1,100 people sick from 2015 to 2018. According to Business Insider, the announcement came as Chipotle talked about its “food safety culture.” CEO Brian Niccol said food safety is “part of our DNA” and was an advantage during the coronavirus pandemic. Nicol talked about rolling out wellness checks, air purification systems and improved internal training.
