On Monday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York wrote a tweet in which she celebrated the collapse of oil prices. "You absolutely love to see it," the progressive Democrat tweeted. "This along with record low-interest rates means it's the right time for a worker-led, mass investment in green infrastructure to save our planet." Later, she deleted the tweet. She then posted a similar, more tempered response, which said the moment marked "a turning point in the climate movement." Business Insider says Ocasio-Cortez is one of the most outspoken advocates of the Green New Deal. The coronavirus pandemic brought travel and manufacturing industries to a grinding halt. There is now a surplus of oil which oil producers can't get rid of. West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures dropped 321% to -$40.32 a barrel on Monday. Brent crude dropped 9.5% to $25.41.
