North Korea continued with its nuclear program last year and has even had a biological warfare program since the 1960s.
In a summarized report to congress, the U.S. State Department said on Friday that North Korea had not adhered to its commitments to the Non-Proliferation Treaty(NPT) or the International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA).
The regime also didn't abide by the 2005 Joint Statement of the Six-Party Talks to abandon all nuclear weapons and existing nuclear programs.
North Korea has also violated the Biological Weapons Convention(BWC) by continuing to develop a biological warfare program.
The U.S. State Department added that North Korea has carried out nuclear activities even after the 2018 North Korea-US negotiations.
