Emirates passengers are being tested for Covid-19 before boarding their flight in Dubai, the major airline has announced
Passengers are now being given blood tests before boarding their flight to determine whether they have coronavirus.
Major airline Emirates is the first to introduce quick Covid-19 tests at the airport, with results taking just 10 minutes.
It has launched the tests at its Dubai home base for now, after resuming limited passenger flights earlier this month.
The flights at its United Arab Emirates base are currently open to foreign passengers who wish to leave the country, but no incoming passengers are allowed.
Emirates confirmed in a statement: “Passengers on today's flight to Tunisia were all tested for Covid-19 (respiratory disease) before departing from Dubai.
“Emirates is the first airline to conduct on-site rapid Covid-19 tests for passengers.”
