Lockdown for 34 million people in capital Jakarta as Indonesia fights surge in coronavirus deaths

About 34 million people in the Indonesian capital have been ordered to observe tougher social distancing measures to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Jakarta’s partial lockdown was expanded on April 15, 2020, to include areas near the capital city. The new rules came a day after the country reported 60 new Covid-19 deaths, Indonesia’s biggest daily jump in fatalities recorded so far.
