Officials from India's forest department today (April 5th) worked for three hours to rescue two wild elephants which had fallen into a muddy pond.

Locals from the Wyanad District of Kerala tried in vain to save the animals and so called in the experts who used a digger to flatten the slippery sides of the pond so that the elephants could walk to freedom.

The animals immediately ran unharmed to the safety of the forest, according to local media.
