India will import approximately three million tonnes (mt) of pulses in the year 2020-21, a move that could lower the prices of homegrown pulses and increase losses of farmers across the country. The centre fixed an import quota of 1.34 mt on pulses for the current fiscal year, according to a circular issued on March 28, 2020.

वाणिज्य विभाग के आंकड़ों के मुताबिक पिछले साल अक्टूबर, 2019 तक में भारत सरकार ने 18.7 लाख टन दाल बाहर से खरीदा था. वहीं वित्त वर्ष 2018-19 में 25.3 लाख टन, 2017-18 में 56.1 लाख टन और 2016-17 में 66.1 लाख टन दाल आयात किया गया था.
