Lockdown और Curfew में क्या अंतर होता है? | Difference Between Curfew & Lockdown | Coronavirus

Lockdown : A situation in which people are not allowed to enter or leave a building or area freely because of an emergency.

Section 144 of CrPC can be prescribed in Urgent situations where State`s Security, Peace and Order is in question. Once applied, an order for Section 144 stays for a maximum of 2 months which can be further extended upto 6 months.

Generally, an order of Section 144 is imposed in an area before proceeding to an Order of Lockdown or Curfew. During these time, the Government and State Authorities have the power to put a Ban on Internet, Restrict Essential Services and Shut down various modes of Public Transport.

We will also know the repurcussions of not following these orders i.e., Punishments prescribed under Section 188, Section 269, Section 270 and 271 of IPC.
