U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday urged Americans to follow federal social distancing guidelines until the end of April... with the next two weeks in particular expected to be very tough.
"It's absolutely critical for the American people to follow the guidelines for the next thirty days. It's a matter of life and death, frankly. It's a matter of life and death."
The number of confirmed cases in the U.S has spiked to more than 189-thousand and more than 4-thousand have died.
The death toll could hit the 240-thousand mark according to health experts if people do not stick to the guidelines.
"There's no magic bullet. There's no magic vaccine or therapy. It's just behaviors. Each of our behavior is translating into something that changes the course of this viral pandemic over the next 30 days."
The guidelines include calling in a doctor when sick, avoiding restaurants and bars, and protecting elders.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that 78 percent of patients admitted to the I.C.U, and 94 percent of COVID-19 victims, had underlying conditions.
Around the world, 89 percent of students are not attending school as classes have been suspended.
UNESCO warns that this could increase education abandonment by female teenagers, early pregnancy, forced marriage, and even sexploitation.
It offered investment in female education and online schooling as a potential solution.
