Abul Hasan (born August 5 - November 25) is a modern poet of Bangladesh identified with the sixties. He was a journalist by profession. His real name is Abul Hossain Mia and literary name is Abul Hassan. He was one of the most popular poets of the sixties and also rose to prominence in the seventies. Poet and journalist Abul Hasan was born in Matulala in Barni village of Tungipara in Gopalganj district. His ancestral residence was in Jhanjhania village of Nazirpur in Pirojpur district. He then passed his high school from BM College in Barisal. He was later admitted to the BA class with honors in English at Dhaka University, but without completing the examination, he joined the Daily Ittefaq's message department at 3. Later he served as Assistant Secretary at Ganbangla (12-5) and Daily Japad (3-5). Abul Hasan fame as a creative poet at an early age. In just a decade of poetry he occupied a prominent place in the history of modern Bengal. The consciousness of self-sacrifice, sadness, death-consciousness, isolation, loneliness, memory and liberation war has been reflected in the poetry of Abul Hasan. He became the first to compete in Asian poetry competition in the 5th.
