EPCAMR's Rainbow Trout Tank 03/17/2020

Happy St. Patricks Day from the EPCAMR office. The trout are growing up and getting their distinctive pink line. We have raised these fish from eggs and to fingerlings and will eventually release them into an approved stream. As we reflect on their journey we are reminded of the link we all have to nature. Trout are very sensitive to changes in water biology, chemistry, and temperature. Because of that, they are like the "canary in the coal mine" when it comes to indicating stream health.

Pennsylvania's statewide Trout In the Classroom (TIC) program is made possible through a unique partnership between the Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited (PATU) and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC). This partnership provides curriculum resources, workshops for teachers and program partners, technical support, trout eggs and food, and grants.
