A sixteen-year-old student from north India suffering from a lung condition brought an oxygen cylinder with her into a major exam, showing grit and determination in her studies.

Safia Javed, from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, has been suffering from respiratory problems for the last five years due to complications from a lung operation, and has needed to be constantly on oxygen for the last 15 months.

Safia, due to her health problems, had to take her class 10th standard exams on February 24 as a private student. Her family obtained special permission to allow Safia to bring an oxygen cylinder into the exam centre.

Safia's father commented: "My daughter was a bright student, but due to her health condition she couldn't go school regularly.

"She is very strong and wanted to take the exam as the 10th board exam is very important for students."
