The Voice: Season 18 Premiere

Your favorite red chairs will soon be swiveling. The Voice will return for season 18 Feb. 24 with three of its coaches–Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend–intact, and new addition Nick Jonas, who is one of the youngest coaches to date (former judge Miley Cyrus is two months younger). Jonas will be taking over the seat left vacant by Gwen Stefani.

“I hadn’t really consciously calculated that but yes, he is one of the youngest,” executive producer Audrey Morrissey confirms to Parade.com in an exclusive interview for season 18. “But the funny thing with Nick, as with all those Jonas Brothers, they’ve been doing it forever—especially with Nick. With his early start on Broadway and everything, he’s obviously a triple threat. He’s a pro.”

As in seasons past, the new coach is getting a lot of good-natured ribbing, but having been in a family band, Nick is able to take it—plus, he is getting his fair share of the artists from the Blind Auditions.

“It’s so good,” Morrissey says of this season’s talent. “Every season, and especially last season, I felt like we had an especially good group of artists come through. But this season is equally as good. We have some really talented young people, so we’re delivering on that. We have an incredible young artist, who from first listen really reminded me of our season one winner, Javier Colon.”
