Eyewitnesses of the clash between police and Okada and Keke Marwa riders at Ijora, Lagos have narrated how it all started.

Speaking with our correspondent, an eyewitness, Folorunsho Atanda said that hoodlums were burning tyres as operators of Keke and Okada were protesting their ban by the Lagos State government when the police arrived at the scene and started shooting indiscriminately.

He said that the shots resulted in the death of one person, while a student was also affected.

Another eyewitness, Abdulrazak Sulaiman, said that the police came and started shooting unprovoked and in retaliation, hoodlums pelted them with stones.

He said, "We are not animals, we are in a public space and we are being shot at because we are expressing our dissatisfaction with the action of government.

"They were only burning two tyres..."
