Watch your feet! Giant eels lurk underneath the sand in Indonesia's Lembeh Strait

Giant snake eels bury themselves and lurk underneath the sand, awaiting prey, in Indonesia's Lembeh Strait.

The footage filmed in February 2016 shows multiple snake eels slithering along the sea's surface before burrowing into the sand.

The filmer told Newsflare: "Really scary looking, and very big. The snake eels in Lembeh Strait are impressive to say the least. Biggest ones we saw were around 1.8-metres.

"Apparently they are supposed to taste quite well - the locals eat them every now and then - we never did try."
