When Peter set out on a 250 mile journey in northwest Nepal, he wished to observe the late autumn rut of the bharal. Any trip is a experience that tests the life of the traveler, but this one was a real passage, involving and exploring, unfolding and revealing the narrator of his world. The killing of wild animals was forbidden in that area. And there were plenty of wild animals, but seeing the Snow Leopard was rare. The glimpse of the near mythic beast in the snow mountains would be reason enough for the entire journey.
