Alligator expert in Florida able to hand-feed 'predator friend'

Alligator expert Chris Gillette works in a rescue centre for Florida wildlife, and showed off his unique relationship with one of the gators under his care.

Gillette has been able to teach Casper the alligator simple commands with a food incentive, as seen in this clip from February 12 at the Everglades Outpost in Homestead.

In this clip Gillette is showing Casper a treat and gesturing for the reptile to come over, the prehistoric predator then swims over and gently takes his treat, and can be heard rumbling contentedly.

The filmer commented: "Casper is not obeying or submitting to the command of his owner, this is a relationship built over a period of years and it is a relationship of respect."
