Public mourning in China after death of coronavirus whistle-blower doctor Li Wenliang

The Chinese government’s highest anti-corruption agency is sending an investigation team to central Hubei province amid widespread public anger over the death of a doctor who sounded an early alarm about the coronavirus. A wave of public mourning has also followed the death of Li Wenliang, who was initially reprimanded by police in Wuhan, the city at the epicentre of what has become a global outbreak, before succumbing to the disease himself.
