Web users were impressed by the fish after watching swim up a vertical wall and fighting to survive in the water stream
A 'miracle' fish has defied the odds and swam up against the water at a sewage discharge point.

The video posted on Twitter shows the gold and orange-looking fish swimming up a ledge as water flows in a direction against it.
It wiggles and struggles for a second before making a big leap so that it is able to stay flat in the shallow water.

The fish has been deemed "an incredible fighter" as Japanese web users commented on the clip.

One said the fish was able to escape from a near-death situation and it is all thanks to its endeavour to stay alive.
Another one said the fish has taught him a lesson to "never give up" in a harsh environment.

"If a fish can defy the odds, why not us? We should never give up!" he wrote.

Some viewers pointed out that the fish might belong to a species similar to moss-eating fish.

One said: "The reason why the fish could swim up against a wall is due to the 'suction cup' on its mouth, which allows it to attach to hard surface such as this."
Another commented: "It looks like a kind of tropical fish, but I don't remember the name of it."
But there were some that found it sad, predicting the fish would end up dying in the shallow water above.

It is unclear where the clip was recorded, but it has amassed more 77,000 likes and has been retweeted more 20,000 times on Twitter.

The fish stays at the edge as the stream was blocked by a filter barrier.
