Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat. His father was a diwan in the court of the king of the princely state of Porbandar. The mother was of religious instinct and always taught the son of religious tolerance, simple living and non-violence. Whatever he did for the country can never be forgotten. He dedicated his life in search of truth. We can also change our lives by adopting Gandhiji's ideas.

मोहनदास करमचंद गांधी का जन्म गुजरात के पोरबंदर में दो अक्टूबर 1869 को हुआ था। उनके पिता पोरबंदर रियासत के राजा के दरबार में दीवान थे। मां धार्मिक प्रवृत्ति की थीं और हमेशा पुत्र को धार्मिक सहिष्णुता, साधारण रहन-सहन और अहिंसा की सीख दी। उन्होंने देश के लिए जो भी किया उसे कभी नहीं भुलाया जा सकता है। उन्होंने जीवन को सत्य की खोज में समर्पित कर दिया। गांधी जी के विचारों को अपनाकर हम भी अपने जीवन को बदल सकते हैं।
