This is an authentic dal recipe mostly prepared where we do not prefer onion and garlic.
specially for Pooja and festival.

Daliche Toi (Pigeon pea stew with fresh coconut)
Ingredients:
1. Pegion peas (Tuvar Dal) 1/2 cup cooked until mushy
2. For Masala Grind all below listed ingredients into fine paste
Coconut 1 cup 100 grams
Turmeric Powder 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds (Jeera) 1/4 tsp
Green Chillies 2 Nos.
Few Coriander Stems
Ginger 1/2 inch
3. For Tadka
Oil 3 tbsp
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Asafoetida (Hing) 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves 2 springs
4. Other Ingredients
Tomato 1 medium size sliced
Few Coriander leaves finely chopped
salt to taste

Method:
Cook the Pigeon peas (Tuvar Dal) until mushy
Heat up the pot add oil followed by mustard seeds when the mustard seeds starts to splutter add asafoetida (hing) and curry leaves. Let it sizzle for 30 seconds.
Now, add in the ground masala paste, mix it well then add a cup of water and bring it to boil.
when the masala begins to boil introduce cooked dal and bring it to boil approx about 5 minutes.
Now, add in the tomatoes and further boil for 5 more minutes approx.
Off the flame add in the coriander and here we go No onion No ginger daliche toi (Pigeon pea stew) is ready.
