Beautiful double rainbow stretches over valley in the Philippines

A beautiful double rainbow amazed tourists when it stretched over a valley in the Philippines on January 20.

The rare phenomenon was seen in the Banaue district of the northern mountainous region of Cordillera. It is home to the country's famed rice terraces.

Traveller Rochelle Danguilan said that it was the first time she saw such a breathtaking rainbow.

She said: "It was so close and huge. We really enjoyed our stay there."

A double rainbow occurs when a second, faint arc, is seen outside the primary rainbow arc.

This is caused by the light reflecting twice in the water droplets.
