In early January Pier 1 Imports announced that they were closing 450 of its 942 stores.
Business Insider visited a Pier 1 Imports store in New York City, to see how they compared to Ross for home-goods shopping.
From price to quality to selection, Business Insider said it is clear why Pier 1 has been "struggling to compete with other discount home-goods chains."
