Elephant that fell into water tank when concrete slab gave in under its weight is rescued after marathon operation in northern India

Students at the Government Girls Secondary Higher had a narrow escape after a wild elephant entered their school campus and fell into the concrete underground water tank.

According to reports, the incident took place on January 4 in Jodhpur city in the north Indian state of Rajasthan.

Visuals show the elephant trapped inside the water tank while people present at the scene are seen breaking the concrete structure of the tank.

According to witnesses the mammal accidentally climbed on the tank, breaking the surface.

The elephant was taken out with the help of an earthmover and was later given first-aid by veterinarians, as it sustained injuries due to the fall.
