The Witcher: Series vs Books vs Games
The Witcher is already on air, and it's time to have a look at the cast of the witcher and see if they look any different from the major characters in the Witcher books AND Witcher game. Watch our characters Witcher review on OSSA Movies!
The casting choice for the role in netflix Witcher of Triss Merigold was the most controversial of all.
The showrunner, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich,
definitely took some liberties where Triss was concerned.
One might say that this is an adaption of the books and not the games, so aesthetic differences can be expected.
But the fact is that the look of the young sorceress is very different
from Sapkowski’s books too! And The Witcher series pushed these differences even further,
as the actress Anna Shaffer is definitely not a red-head.
Brown hair and eyes, a much darker skin color – it was too much for the majority of fans. Yennefer of Vengerberg
… wasn’t as controversial as that of Triss, but it's still not a choice that fans of the books AND the games have come to terms with.
But why?
Because it seems that the only thing in common between all the versions of this character is… her spectacular violet eyes! Actress Anya Chalotra plays Yennefer.
Ciri
… the Lion Cub of Cintra , when she’s very young, around 8 or 9 years old, she's almost undistinguishable from the boys of her age.
Her appearance is quite common, except for her large emerald green eyes and ashen hair.
Freya Allan, cast as Ciri for The Witcher series, seems to be a perfect match of the description of the character in Sapkowski’s books, and the video games as well.
Geralt of Rivia
The fact is that his appearance had already been a topic of controversy when
The Witcher games were released, especially The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
He was made much more good looking than he had been described in the books.
Moreover, even more handsome than in the previous games, where he was much more angular. Played by Henry Cavill, Geralt is certainly even buffer and more attractive than in the games.
