A number of mothers and children search through large heaps of rubbish washed up on a beach in Padang for valuables.
The locals search for items that can be recycled just as reusable plastic and aluminium cans.
One of the mothers said: "We always use the moment to look for used items for her to sell back to add to my family's economy."
Nearby flooding has thousands of pieces of litter to wash up on the beach, creating huge piles of rubbish.
