'I was scared to stay in Japan,' Carlos Ghosn tells FRANCE 24

Former Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn shocked the world when he escaped from Japan, where he was awaiting trial on financial misconduct charges, and popped up in Lebanon just before the New Year. Speaking publicly for the first time since that latest twist in his saga, the ex-auto tycoon lashed out at Japan's legal system on Wednesday, saying he'd been treated "brutally" by prosecutors. On Thursday, Ghosn sat down for an interview with FRANCE 24's Marc Perelman.
“I left Japan because I arrived at the conclusion that I couldn’t have a fair trial there,” Ghosn said, criticising what he described as Japan’s “hostage” justice system.Click on the video player above to watch his interview with FRANCE 24.
