Residents in Puerto Rico evacuate amid tsunami warnings

Residents of Maunabo in south-east Puerto Rico were evacuated to higher ground as a 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck the island today (January 7).

Footage shows traffic advancing up the highway as power outages bring darkness to a large chunk of the island.

The filmer told Newsflare: "They were evacuating to the top of the mountain for issued tsunami warning.

"At that moment we were calm, we were scared, we were sleeping, the light went out first, and then the strong tremor right now continues to shake."
