Republic Day Parade 2020। West Bengal, Maharashtra, Bihar की झांकियां Raj Path पर नहीं दिखेंगी!

The Ministry of Defence's decision to not select Maharashtra's tableau for the Republic Day 2020 parade has created a political furore as several state leaders have claimed that the decision was taken due to political vendetta. But it is not the first time that the state's tableau did not make it to the Rajpath on January 26. Prior to 2020, Maharashtra tableau did not make it to 26 January parade in 1972, 1987, 1989, 1996, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2013, 2016 as well. Interestingly, in 2013, the state and Centre were both governed by Congress-led coalitions and in 2016, both were helmed by BJP-led governments and yet the tableau did not make it to the short-list for the parade. Regardless of the precedence, the absence of Maharashtra from the tableau short-list has not gone down well with ministers and political leaders in Maharashtra.
