The defence ministry has amended the army, air force and navy rules by bringing in a new clause that allows the Chief of Defence Staff to serve upto a maximum age of 65 years. The notification was issued yesterday. It has set off speculation that if the Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat, is made the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS)- he is a front runner for the post.

केंद्र की मोदी सरकार ने चीफ ऑफ आर्मी डिफेंस स्टाफ की अधिकतम उम्र 65 साल तय कर दी है। सरकार ने इसकी अधिकतम उम्र सीमा के लिए सेना के नियमों में संशोधन किया है. पहले सीडीएस के नाम का आज ऐलान हो सकता है. वर्तमान सेना प्रमुख जनरल बिपिन रावत का नाम रेस में सबसे आगे है. बता दें कि नए सीडीएस को 31 दिसंबर को पदभार संभालना है.
