Dharmendra Kumar Singh, 7 feet 3 inches tall man came to Gangaram Hospital for his treatment in New Delhi on Tuesday, January 23, 2007. He suffers from a rare disorder, which is caused by a pituitary tumour that is making the gland continuously secrete the growth hormone. Dharmendra Pratap Singh is a Pratapgarh (district in Uttar Pradesh) native, and an MA in Hindi literature.

”Dharmendra has a very rare disorder called acromegaly,” informs ENT surgeon Alok Agarwal. “This is caused by a pituitary tumour that is making the gland continuously secret the growth hormone. It is also putting pressure on his optic nerve. As a result, Dharmendra has poor eyesight, frequent headaches, diabetes, laxity of joints and, of course, abnormally large extremities. Poverty has also made him malnourished – his weights only 70 kilograms,” says Agarwal who first came across this case on TV and got in touch with Dharmendra, who said he could not afford to pay for treatment.
Due to acromegaly, Dharmendra Pratap Singh became one of the tallest man living today. This rare disorder is caused by a pituitary tumour that is making the gland continuously secrete the growth hormone. Because of his immense height, Dharmendra also finds it hard to find a wife for him. 32-year old Dharmendra from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh is struggling to live a normal life due to his disorder. He took up work as a freak show performer at a local amusement park where he used to spend his days in a cage-like structure selling photographs to paying punter at a low salary. This happens because he finds it hard to be hired in a reasonable job. Suddenly, reigning the Guinness World Records for the tallest man on Earth made him changed his perceptions in his nature.
