Aiello's death has been
confirmed by his literary
agent, Jennifer De Chiara.
The world has lost one of its greatest actors who also happened to be a wonderful human being. He will
be missed,  Jennifer De Chiara,
via 'USA Today'.
Details about his death
have not yet been revealed.
Before starting his acting career
in his mid-30s, Aiello worked as a
Greyhound bus employee and bouncer.
He went on to appear in films such as,
'The Godfather: Part II,' 'Moonstruck'
and 'The Purple Rose of Cairo.'.
Aiello's other movie credits include
'Once Upon a Time in America' and
'Leon: The Professional.'.
He is best known for portraying a pizza shop owner in Spike Lee's
1989 movie, 'Do the Right Thing.'.
His role as Sal earned Aiello
an Oscar nomination for
best supporting actor
