Rescuers struggled to extricate a couple, who were buried up to their necks in mineral ore, after a truck overturned by their bike in eastern India on December 9.

The truck, which was carrying chromite, overturned on a road at Pankapal near Jajpur, Odisha, hitting the couple's bike and dumping its mineral cargo on them.

A few onlookers informed the police and immediately started rescue operations. They lifted the truck and rushed the victims to a nearby hospital.

The married couple both suffered serious injuries and are under treatment. The police said they are looking for the truck driver, who fled the spot after the accident.
