The video, filmed on Friday (December 6) from a commercial plane flying west shortly after takeoff from Sydney, shows the Australian bushfires at about 25,000 feet.

The filmer told Newsflare: "A huge fire front has opened up in the Blue Mountains, just outside Sydney in New South Wales.

"The bushfire smoke is causing severe smog and pollution in the Sydney basin, home to 5.5 million people."
