Taylor Swift Opens up About
Her Struggle With Body Positivity .
Swift recently talked
about approaching her
30th birthday and how she’s
had to learn to love her body. .
She described her 20s as a process similar to
trying on a bunch of costumes before finally
being able to walk in a regular outfit. .
According to Swift, part of
that journey was coming to
terms with the “toxic messages”
being sent by society.
One thing going into my 30s that I'm really
stoked about is like I now can really recognize
and diagnose, like, toxic messages being sent
to me by society, by culture about, like, my body
… I’m a woman. I'm not a coat hanger, Taylor Swift, to 'British Vogue'.
Swift learned not to use her body as an
“exercise of control” when life becomes too hectic
but instead focuses on feeling “healthy in life.”.
I need to feel healthy in my life and I need
to take pleasure in food and I need to not
use my body as like an exercise of control
when I feel out of control in my life, Taylor Swift, to 'British Vogue'.
As she described in an article for ‘Elle’ earlier
this year, Swift has spent a lot of time working
to “[accept her] body every day.”.
I learned to stop hating every ounce of fat on
my body. I worked hard to retrain my brain that
a little extra weight means curves, shinier hair,
and more energy … There is no quick fix. I work
on accepting my body every day, Taylor Swift, to 'Elle'
