Diplo is an American DJ, songwriter, and record producer from Tupelo, Mississippi. He started gaining attention as a DJ while attending Temple University in Philadelphia. His name is short for Diplodocus, which is derived from his childhood fascination with dinosaurs. He is a member of electronic duo Jack U with DJ Skrillrex, a member of the supergroup LSD with Sia and Labrinth, a member of Silk City with Mark Ronson, and he is the co-creator and lead member of Major Lazer. Diplo founded and manages his own record company, Mad Decent, and co-founded the non-profit organization Heaps Decent. Diplo has worked with many pop artists such as Justin Bieber, Beyonce, Shakira, Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Usher, Snoop Dogg, and Ellie Goulding. In 2016, he won two Grammys for Best Dance Recording for “Where Are U Now” and Best Dance/Electronic Album. In 2019, Diplo won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for “Electricity” with Mark Ronson and Dua Lipa.
