Hungry elephant pushes 30ft tree down to feed herd during night safari in South Africa

Night-time safari tourists run into an adrenalin-fuelled sighting as a six-tonne elephant sends a 30ft tree crashing to the ground so that the herd can feed on the leaves above. The tourists are left in hysterics as the tree can be herd cracking and breaking.

The clip, filmed on Saturday 23 November in South Africa, shows the moment the elephant knocked down the tree before his herd crowds the tree to eat the new leaves.

"The eastern cape has been suffering from a horrific drought this year, large animals like elephants must use every and all possible food sources to stay alive, even if that means expending a massive amount of energy to push down trees,” the filmer Ewan Wilson told Newsflare.
