Indian mounted police practise dispersing mob riding batons instead of horses

Indian mounted police carried out a mock drill to disperse a rioting mob riding their batons instead of horses in this comical clip.

The team of mounted cops galloped holding their batons between their legs on November 8 in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, charging into a ‘riotous mob’ and chasing them away.

An official said police were forced to ride their batons as real horses were not available.

“Cops presumed they were on horseback and conducted the exercise symbolically," he said.

District police chef Prabal Pratap Singh asked media not to mock the exercise and said the police had got a chance to practice the ‘parameters and standards’ used in controlling riots.

He said he had sought 10 horses for riot control from higher authorities.
