Himalayan nuns practise kung fu to break gender stereotypes
  • 4 years ago
Training with swords and machetes, these nuns from Druk Amitabha Mountain Nunnery in Nepal are challenging gender stereotypes with martial arts. Encouraged by spiritual leader His Holiness The Gyalwang Drukpa, they have been practising kung fu since 2008. Despite initial resistance, these Himalayan kung fu nuns are now travelling around South Asia to inspire other young girls and send out a message of gender equality and empowerment.
