Wang "William" Liqiang says he is a Chinese spy who defected to Australia with information on China’s political interference operations in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia, according to media reports. Wang, who is now seeking asylum in Australia, gave its counter-espionage agency the names of senior military intelligence officers he said funded and conducted such operations. The Chinese government has denied interference in other countries’ “domestic politics”.
