People were seen arriving ahead of Pope Francis' Holy Mass in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday (November 21).

The ceremony will be the highlight of his four-day trip before he leaves for Tokyo, Japan on Saturday morning.

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend the service, packing the country's National Stadium and lining the roads outside.

It begins at 5pm local time.

The last pope to visit the Southeast Asian country was Pope John Paul II in 1984. There are around 388,000 Catholics with most living in the north and central parts of Thailand.
